and Baby Walrus
CD Release Party

COVER:
$5.00
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Get down with your sweetie and friends in the bemisUNDERGROUND on Friday, February 15, for a double CD launch party.
Baby Walrus intros its eponymous album, with songs that growl and ramble like Captain Beefheart, croon with Nick Caves’s dark smoothness and includes the carnival of diner and lounge music ala Tom Waits. Add to this Jerry Lee Lewis-like piano crushing performances, music that is so totally original it’s something you only expect from the bleak Indie Midwest.
Plus Derek Pressnall debuts Flowers Forever, an artistic outlet of Tilly and the Wall. The transplant began writing songs for what would become the band's self-titled debut in early 2007 during an "emotional rollercoaster" that found him waking with prophetic sensations. "I basically had this really weird moment in my life where I thought maybe I was having premonitions," Pressnall recently told SPIN.com. " For this full-blown musical project, he enlisted the help of several friends -- including Tilly and the Wall collaborator Craig D. -- for the Flowers Forever CD, out Feb. 19 via Team Love. |
