ABOUT THE EVENT:
Do you find yourself getting lost among the chaos of our non-stop, 24-hour, utterly unrelenting media? Do network news, blustering blogs and foaming-at-the-mouth talking heads have you running in circles? Then get your sense of direction back on track with the Lost Film Fest. The LFF takes place exclusively in the bemisUNDERGROUND on Saturday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m. and features a laugh-a-riot performance hosted by Scott Beibin (Bloodlink Records, Evil Twin Booking). It’s akin to a DJ spinning records, but instead of music, there’s narration, comedy and video clips. What will Beibin play? It’s impossible to predict. His performance depends on the audience’s mood and current events. He presents random footage (like pie fights with police, riot clips and culture jamming) with punk rock urgency to celebrate media archaeology and illegal art. Imagine Mystery Science Theater 3000 mixed with Noam Chomsky and Pee Wee Herman. Says the irreverent host, “What makes LFF unique is that it’s an interactive experience incorporating storytelling with short films. I set up a laptop and video projector in the center of the room and show movies. I add new stuff and subtract old stuff all the time to keep the program fresh… The spontaneity of chance is what makes Lost Film Fest unique and fun. You may not know what you’re going to see, but for sure it won’t suck.”
ABOUT THE LOST FILM FESTIVAL:
Based in Philadelphia, the LFF is a traveling multi-media spectacle incorporating live performance and video to provide spectators with an independent, anti-authoritarian, anti-corporate grassroots DIY media extravaganza. Beibin travels the globe telling stories and spinning movies using a video projector, DVD player, and backpack filled with goodies. His road show incorporates a sexy, smash-it-up, radical anti-capitalist anti-globalization perspective. Truly "Too Hot for TV" since 1999, the LFF has featured scathing and hilarious social commentary in the form of narrative shorts, documented pranks, hot amateur protest footage, and video re-mixes. Additionally there is an annual weeklong event held in Philly, and guerilla visits to Sundance, Cannes, and the Skull and Bones Society. This jam is about smashing the illusions cast by Hollywood, the Pentagon, and FOX News.
